Tonight as I was drawing the step that the fireman would use to light the headlight (imagine that at night at -30 Celsius!), I thought I must be just about finished with the drawing. So, I dropped all the parts into an OnShape assembly to see what is yet to be drawn. I discovered the cab roof is still missing, and maybe I should do the builders and number plates, but otherwise I’m pretty much finished.
There are 80 etched and cast parts in the assembly. Quite a few are elided, like the wheels, numerous pieces of wire and castings I intend to purchase, such as the air compressor and headlight. When all is said and done, there will be roughly 150 parts in this locomotive, which sounds like a lot, but isn’t when compared to 1160 in #10.
It’s good the drawing is just about finished, because a crew completely excavated Mt Flood on Thursday. Everything came back into the house, but in strange and seemingly random locations. Even so, we may only be a couple of weeks away from hearing the sweet tones of the Sherline ringing into the wee hours of the morning!
