Magic Box Discoveries

The Boy and I had to drive down to Kerrisdale today on an errand. As we were in the neighbourhood, and I needed more 1/8″ brass rod, we stopped in at Magic Box Hobbies.

Magic Box mostly cater to the plastic and R/C modelling crowds, and so this was only my second time in the store. It was the first time I had an opportunity to look around. It’s always useful to see what other hobbies are up to, especially when it comes to tools and materials. I was not disappointed: there was a healthy selection of tools and implements, though nothing that really caught my eye.

I came away with the brass that I’d come for, but the great find was some fine brass tube. At least I think it’s tube: I didn’t have my new reading glasses with me and couldn’t quite make out the ends, but the package affirms it’s “pipe,” which is a lot like tube. The pipes come in tenth of a millimetre increments from .3mm (.012″) to 1mm, and each package contains eight pieces. Who can say what this stuff will be applied to?
