Boiler details installed

I left most of the details off the boiler until after it was painted. This enabled me to paint the boiler blue to represent planished iron, rather than black. It’s possible that by 1905, 622 was painted black, but I confess I like the blue look. Installing the details was a delicate operation because most can only be glued from the outside due to the boiler weight.

There are still a few things left to do here. The whistle is too high, and I think I will lower it. The builder plates and number board are missing until I figure out how to create them. Finally, the headlight is still missing because I am working on the reflector.

I mustn’t make the same mistake as when I built . I had set up the model and taken its final portraits, which I planned to share with the world. My darling wife (we got married during the construction of that model) came downstairs, took one look over my shoulder, and asked, “Where’s the headlight?” I had forgotten to install it after getting the glass on!
