Percy gets ready for the paint shop

I had the day off yesterday so I could take the kids for a VR game on their last day of March Break. The game itself only took a couple of hours including travel time, which left the rest of the day for play time for me!

I spent it on good old-fashioned modelling. I could have continued with 3D printing, but the cab roof and sander lines seemed easier to just make. Besides, I enjoy cutting little pieces of wire and styrene and forming them into a representation of the real thing. That’s kind of what this hobby is all about for me.

Mostly, Percy is now ready for the paint shop. There are a few Archer rivets that got ripped off by the masking tape when I was doing the handrails, and the cylinders seem to have assumed a bit of a twist (probably from sitting on them), but otherwise this captures the look of the real 2543 remarkably well, considering the starting point.
