The crank pins for 1120 are much heavier than those of 622, and as a result much easier to fabricate. Most of the time in their fabrication went to tapping them for 0-80 bolts as my tap kept binding when I tried to reverse it out of the holes.
Even so, the pieces are tiny, and all four crank pins fit easily onto an ancient Canadian penny.
What type/brand of tap did you use?
I think it is from Kadee.
Yeah, they’re not for metal. One day, when you buy a new tap, look at the KBC house brand ($14). They’re probably not much more than hobby stuff and at least they will cut. Listed under 00-80 – straight flute taper hand tap. As a supplier they have the usual $25 min.
Thanks Andrew. I’ll check them out.
