There has been a pile of Styrofoam where the pasture belongs almost since the layout was installed. Indeed, I think that stand-in landform was a heap of scraps left over from the basement renovation. With the success of the mock-up, however, I was ready to commit to the scene.
To support the test backdrop, I had biscuit-joined together some scraps of half-inch plywood. This is the same as the top level of roadbed, and so I routed out the stream and what will be a marshy area near the tracks. Then I cut the original Styrofoam scraps apart to make new scraps and glued them down with some PL300 I found in the garage. That adhesive, too, was left over from the basement renovation.
Naturally, it’s all a bit rough and scrappy, but it won’t be long before it starts to take its final form, especially as I find myself with some unexpected working hours.
Rene – Gorilla Glue works wonderfully well gluing styrofoam together too!
Thanks Jim. Fortunately, I appear to have plenty of the PL300 still in the tube!
