After more months than I’d planned, 1120 has left the workbench and returned to Golden Lake to resume service to Pembroke. I decided to experiment with a dot filter on the boiler and tender, and it came out a little heavier than I would have liked. However, considering it is not on home rails, perhaps it is okay that it has become a little scruffy. The lesson here is that you really want to weather the boiler before all the piping and hand rails go on.
I’m especially pleased with the difference in tone between the smokebox and boiler. The smokebox got some red dots, while the boiler got some blue ones, and of course, the smokebox never received any gloss coat.
The Black Cat decals really make the engine pop!
