It took four or five hours of shaping Monashee Laser Engineering shingles into trapezoids, peeling tiny scraps of backing, and sticking the tiny trapezoidal pieces of paper in concentric circles, which I had, with a level of foresight for which I am still congratulating myself, inscribed in the 3D printed core of the roof, but the water tower roof is now complete. The flashing is all foil tape, so also peel and stick; I painted it grey and slosh some raw sienna and burnt umber over it to make it look tinny. I’m happy with the result, although the shingles may want a general grey wash to tie all the colours together.

Now that it’s done, why did you go in for modified commercial shingles over diy styrene? Just for the backer?
AH
I thought peel and stick would save time. It probably didn’t, but by the time I came to that conclusion I was a few rows in.
