Percy Gear Fitting

I finally gathered sufficient courage to put all of Percy’s new gears onto their shafts. I was avoiding it because I only had one of each of the two spur gears and one lay shaft. If it went wrong, I would have to get more gears, and who knows when those would arrive through the fug of tariffs and postal strikes. In the end, it went fine, apart from the issue of the worm being designed for something like a 2.3 mm axle, which is smaller than the 2.4 mm one I had. It’s a little more than an interference fit!

I’ve not applied power yet because the epoxy holding the spur gear to the motor shaft will be curing until tomorrow. However, this photo provides an idea of how it all fits together.
