Locating Pembroke’s Boundary Fence

The next piece of scenery on Pembroke will fill in around the water tower, and will include the boundary fence that will keep the hay field from wandering onto the tracks. But where should the fence be relative to the structures on the layout? The Internet is no help at all, stating a broad range of values for the width of rights of way from 50 to 400 feet.

I was sketching all sorts of strange shapes, and then I realized the pasture already establishes one side of the right of way. Through scientific eyeballing, I finally landed on two chains or 132 feet, which is close to 18 real inches. At the south end, I narrowed it down to a single chain. The roundhouse itself doesn’t quite fit within that footprint, but at least the fence won’t need to pass onto the roundhouse module, which seems to need to come out from time to time for maintenance.
