Three at Once

If you’ve got a third machine that can make stuff, you really need to get all three machines working at once. So, on New Year’s Day, I revved up the two 3D printers, printing parts for the upcoming steam throttle project. While they were happily layering away, I fired up the laser cutter to make a loom for fencing. I felt ever so productive with the whole workshop running at once, even if most of the time the machines just brood while I do non-train activities.

The resin printer to the left, and the filament printer on the right bracket the laser cutter on the upper level of the workshop. It’s starting to get crowded in the heavy shop!

  1. I’d love to have a filament printer for the steam throttle case but have had good luck with the resin prints. Once you have one built we would love any ideas on improvements! For one, a whistle or bell chord from the “roof” would be cool. That would mean changing the throttle location but having it in front of the backhead would be more prototypical for my era anyway.

    Following with interest!
